STRIKE PAY.

Tiie first distribution of strike pay to the Southern miners was 8s for each man and 2s for each child, which is at the rate of Is Od per week per head during the currency of the strike. The amallmess ,of the vote is attributed to the fact that many unions have not yet responded to the appeal for funds.
THE MINERS' STRIKE.
A SECRET CONFERENCE
Sydney, April 23.
A deputation representing the Southern and Northern coal miners, the Sydney and Newcastle Coal Lumpers' Union and the Seamen's Union, interviewed Mr. McGowen and Mr. Carmichael on the colliery troubles. It is understood that important proposals were submitted. Mr. McGowen announced that it had been agreed not to divulge the proceedings.
A FIREMEN'S STRIKE. Sydney, April 23. ' The withdrawal of the steamer Zcalandia from the Vancouver service and placing her on the Interstate running •has led to a reduction of her firemen by three. The other firemen objected, and struck, and the Zealandia is held up.
