Nasi), a prominent financial export, gave j evidence that the English capital invested in Australia had decreasied from £387,000,000 in 1902 to £370,000,'000 in 1912. A large nuiriber of English companies which did liig business m the eighties were practically wiped out after the-1-898 collapse. From that date capital had been flowing %aclc to the GM Country, investors finding that because of local competition they could not pro-' litali'ly ,employ their capital.
