Several Senators express the intention of introducing amendments in the Senate, but it is believed they will not press them sufficiently to cause a fissure in the party. Opponents of the Bill are now concentrating the fight on the omission of definite dates when the abolition of the tariffs will be effective.
New York, April 17. Manufacturers and importers are urging Congress to fix the date for the tariff to come into operation a year ahead.
