Replying to a toast at the Now Zealand flub dinner to-day, Captain liatsey said their cruise so far had been the most interesting he had ever taken, lie, was not going to refer to New Zealand, because they had already seen the magnificent wlcome that had been given to the ship, and they knew what they were in for. lie referred to the magnificent /ereption tr> them in Soul ii Africa, and asked: Why was that given; Entirely out of admiiation for what the people in New Zealand had done tenth e Em pi re. and very rightly, too. They realised, as the people in England realised. that New Zealand in coming forward at such a time as she did were pioneers of the great movement tint SJuitl taken place since, and that movement showed our enemies I hut thev had to think twice before they attacked ("treat Britain, (hat thev were attacking a unit. 3 .! Wellington, Last Night. Very large numbers of people visited H.M.S. New Zealand to-day, including the city and suburban school children and some from the country. A Rugby football team from the warships played an Oriental Club fifteen, and were heatenby 28 to 14. About two hundred men journeyed by special train to Featherston, where tliev were loyally entertained. The only other incidents of note were the entertainment of Captain Halsev and the officers at lunch by the Zealand Club, and the presentation of a photograph of Sir Joseph Ward to the ship.
