FIRES.
OUTBREAK AT NAPIER.
Per Press Association,
Napier, Monday. A five-roomed dwelling in Roslyn lload, owned by C. Hammond, and occupied by ,T. Forne, was totally destroyed by lire about midnight. A furious gale wus raging when the alarm was given ftiul the brigade was only able to prevent the flames spreading to adjoining houses. Forne, whose family is away, saved absolutely nothing.
TWO HOUSES BURNED.
Auckland, Monday. Early this morning, fire destroyed" a six-roomed house at Epsom, owned by Hadfiejd and Sons and occupied, by Frank Turner, the occunants mostly escaping through the windows, und nothing being saved. The fire spread to and gutted the adjoining house owned and occupied by Frederick f 'anham. The furniture was removed. The insurance on Hiidfield's house was £420 in the United Office, and on Canham's house £*so, and on the furniture £2OO in the United Office. Turner's furniture was not insured.
FIRE AT WAIKANAE,
Wellington, Last Night. On Saturday night a nine-roomed house' at Waikanae, owned bv Mr. W. H. Field, was destroyed by fire. Both Mr. Field and Mr. Watson, his farm manager, lose a lot of furniture, which is uninsured. The house was insured for £SOO in the Phoenix Office.
