OPUNAKE HARBOR BOARD.
A meeting of the Opunake Harbour Board was held on Thursday, all the members being present. A report was presented showing the pvodnfps which might be expected from the following factories in the event of the port and shipping facilities, etc., being favourable: Oaonui, 500 tons; Awaluna, 700 tons; Kahui road, 120 tons; Rahotu. 300 tons; and Opua road, 100 tons. It was resolved to thank the dairv factories for the information supplied. On the motion of Mr. Malcolm, seconded by Mr. Huglison. it was _ resolved that information be obtained and preliminary steps taken in regard to raising a loan for harbour works. It was resolved that Mie secretary be 'instructed to forward information to i the Prime Minister re nerves already \mentioned, and request same be granted to the Board. Th« _ request is to be sent through Mr. Wilkinson, M.P. On the motion of Mr. Moor" second' ed bv Mr. Malcolm, it was decuWl that the Commissioner of Crown Lands be applied to for copies of the leases of reserves vested in the Board. A communication was read from Hi" Opunake Timber Company, stating tWif Opunake had adequate shipnina facilities thev would be nrepnred to ship from 40,000 to 50,000 feet of timber per month.
