On Monday 7th inst., at my Urenui yards I had a fair- "entry of slieep and cattle. Tlie inquiry was dull, more especially for sheep, only one pen being cleared. A good number of weaners were yarded, and 'although a very few pens were sold at the hammer, I cleared privately all except two lines of secondrate mixed cattle. Prices were obtained as follows:—Weaner heifers, with some colour up to £2 12s, grade weaner heifers including two pens of very nice Shorthorns £1 19s to £2 Is, niixed weaners £1 8s (id to £1 12s, weaner steers £1 18s to £1 IDs Od. empty and 20-months heifers £3 fis to £3 lis. Fat Lambs,—Trices showed an advance of about !)d per head, and were equal to y'/od to 5%d per lb; tegs made 17s (id to 2s Kid, ordinary freezing weights ]j>s to 17s fid, and lighter 13s 9d to 14s fid.

The yarding of fat sheep again totalled about fiOOD. The quality generally was good to prime. Range of prices: Prime wethers 19s Od to 22s 7d; lighter 14s 8d to 19s, prime ewes Uis (id to 21s Od, medium 14s to lfis, aged and lHit 10s to 13s Od.

Entries of fat cattle totalled 25 head. The sale opened at prices on a par with those ruling on April 2nd, but as the market proceeded the demand was orratic, but compared with the previous week, prices showed an advance of Is per inoib, making 22s Od to 31s per 100,1b; steers made £7 7s Od to £ll. extra to £l,-), heifers £(i 15s to £«.),.' extra to £ll 15s, and cows £5 2s fid to £lO 10s.

Store Cattle.--Fifteen to eighteenmonth sorts realised £2'lss to £2 17s Od, 2-year steers £5 7s, 2-year heifers £4 7s 2%-ycnr heifers £4 15s, -3-year steers £0 lis, 3-year heifers £4 8s Od to £4 10s, and cows £1 10s to £4.

Dairy cows made £4 to £8 and up to £ls for extra good sorts. An average entry o.f fat pigs met with a good demand, prices being about the same as the previous week. Choppers made £3 to £5 Ss, heavy baconers 70s to 745, and lighter sorts 55s to 655. equal to 5 1 /od to Od per lb; heavy porkers realised 47s to 525, and lighter sorts 38s to 455. equivalent to Cd to G'/.d per lb. Stora Pigs.—Large sorts realised 38s to 455. medium 28s to 375, and small sorts 20s to 20s. iiuknside: Dunedin, April 9. There was a full yarding of fat cattle at Burnside to-day, 220 head being penned. The entry consisted chiefly of medium quality bullocks and heifers with a few pens of' good cattle. Owing to the number forward, prices showed no improvement on last week's rates. Best bullocks £ll 10s to £l2 10s, extra to £l4 17s (id, medium to good £lO to |£ll, light £8 10s to £9,' best cows and ■heifers £8 10s to £0 15s, extra £ll, medium to good £0 10s to £7 10s.

Fat sheep.—There was a fairly large (warding, the entry. totalling 3337, consisting chiefly of medium weight wethers and ewes, with a few pens of heavy sheep. Prices for prime sheep were better thiln those ruling last week, but for medium and light weights there was little improvement on last week's rates. Prime wethers 20s to 23s Od, extra to 30s, medium to good 18s to 19s Od, light IGs to 17s, prime ewes 18s to 20s, extra heavy to 28s, medium to good 12s 6d to 10s.

Fat lambs.—2o27 were penned, consisting chiefly, of good quality animals. Freezing buyers were operating freelv. and prices were fully equal" to last week's rates.
