Duchess of Conniiught is processing satisfactorily. The operation disclosed a chronic obstruction of the intestine due to inflammatory causes. Archdeacon Evans leaves on. Monday for the Taumarunui portion of the diocese. He will subsequently proceed to the Oringi Territorial Camp and join the 11th Regiment (the Taranaki Rifles). A complimentary social'was tendered to the Rev. J. H. White at l'atca oit Wednesday by the members of the' Methodist Clmrch, who presented- him with an address and a purse of sovereigns. Mr. White is being transferred; to Wellington.
Mr. F. (i. Mangusson. Town Clerk,. Dannevirke, has been appointed secretary of the Llawera County Electric Light Company, vice Mr. J. P. Dugdale, resigned. There were in all about 1.50 applications for the position from nil parts of the Dominion.
