ATHLETICS.
j A FEAT OF STRENGTH. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Sydney, April 10. A man named O'Reilly, a member of the police force, threw the hammer 133 feet 3% inches, a State record. . ROVERS CYCLE CLUB. INAUGURAL SPORTS MEETING. The Rovers Cycle Club held its inaugural Sports meeting on the Recreation Ground, but received very poor support on the part of the general public. The weather was ideal and the public were well catered for, and yet the attendance numbered only a few hundred. The programme, which mainly comprised cycling events, also contained several Hat events. The cycle races all drew big fields, but the grass track played havoc with many riders' calculations, spills being frequent throughout the whole afternoon. A. White, who was riding well, had an extraordinary run of bail hick in this connection. The handicapping proved to be good, and there were some good finishes. The lion, secretary and treasurer (Mr. W. donas) had everything in good working order, and the only surprise is that there were not more people present. The officials were:—Starter, Mr. P. Moorshead: call steward, Mr. J. Elliott'; lap steward, Mr. G. Griffiths; handicapwr, Mr. A. George; timekeeper, Mr. J. Bennett: judges, Messrs. A. M. Bradburv and IT. Brooks; gate steward. Mr. J.
