ASSESSMENT COURT.
YESTERDAY'S SITTING. The Assessment Court continued its sittings, at New Plymouth yesterday, under the presidency of Mr. A. Crooke, S.M. Mr. C. T. Mills represented the Borough Council, and Mr. A. H. Johnstone appeared for a number of objec--S.M. Mr. O. T. Mills represented the valuer, on behalf of the objectors, in a number of cases. The following decisions were arrived at: Wm. Bocock, £47, reduced to £35; , William Bocock, section and house in Molesworth street, £42, reduced to £37; J. 1). Sole and G. A. Corney, 5% acres at Tukapa, £25, reduced to £ls; Trustees Whiteley Methodist Church, section situate in Liardet street, and building 1 known as Whiteley Hall, £7O, reduced to £4O; Laura Barnes, house and a quarter acre section, Devon street East, £BO, reduced to £45; Elizabeth Campbell, section at the comer of Gover street and Courtenay street, containing two buildings, £O4, reduced to £SO; W. J. Honeyfield (Mr. A. 11. Johnstone) £250, reduced to £150; W. ,T. Honeyfield. property known as Mission Hill, Moturoa, containing 0 acres, £OO, reduced

Corkill, who stated that he held the .authorities of over 90 objecting ratepayers, suggested that in order to save time he should confer with Mr. Mills and endeavour to come to some compromise. Mr. Mills agreed to the suggestion, but at the same time said that he could not hold out much ground for many reductions so fitr as l>" was concerned.
