A CONSTABLE SHOT.
BY BURGLAR. !';• Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Received 10, D.13 p.m. Melbourne, April 10. An early morning pas.ser-bv noticed two men leave Massey's, chemist, Parkville, and informed a couple pf police, who, separating, searched the vicinity. Constable McCosker overtook and attempted to arrest one man, who drew a revolver and shot McCosL'er through the left wrist.
The constable again attempted to grapple with the man, who then fired point blank and wounded McCosker in the abdomen. The two men bolted. The other constable, attracted by the shooting, conveyed McCosker to the liospital. His condition is serious.
A drawer of Massev's, containing £3 was found in the vicinity.
