A London cablegram reports the death of Sir Clement Hill, Unionist member for Shrewsbury. Sergeant-Major Bezar, who has been spending three weeks-in New Plymouth, leaves to-day for Hawera, en route to Wellington. Sir George Clifford will arrive in Xew Plymouth to-day for the purpose of paying an official visit of inspection to the works of the Taranaki (New Zealand) Oil Wells, Ltd. It ..is understood that Captain Cardale, of Hawera, is to be transferred to Napier as adjutant of the Mounted Rifle Brigade, and that Captain Lampen, Stratford, is to go to Nelson as group officer. Captain Stevens is to remain in Hawera. Lieutenant E. Dovey will be stationed at Hawera as adjutant of the Mounted Division, and Lieutenant M. McDonnell as adjutant of the infantry. These two officers weer among the successful warrant officers who passed the examination for entry into the 'commission ranks. The changes will not take effect until after the training camps—Hawera Star.
