Mr. Cook, Federal Opposition Leader, in a speech attacking the Labor Party, said that if all which was transpiring today was the result of the party's wonderful performances, then they should not decline to set these things to their credit: 253 strikes, causing the loss of £8,000.000 in wages; an increase in the cost of living of 30 per cent., as was declared on oath before the Industrial Court; an increased taxation of at least £lO to £l2 per family; as a result money was tight and difficult to obtain.
