Griffiths and Co. are in receipt of the following market report from their London principals. Messrs. Mills and Sparrow, dated London,' 2}ith February, 1013. Butter.—The weather during the week has been changeable, and not nearly so cold as when we last wrote. The market is firm, and the general trade for butter is reported to be pretty good, especially for choice qualities, Austiahan. Last wetx's arrivals having, cleared up very well. There w;).s an j excellent enquiry for the butters, which landed this week per s.s. Mooltan. Unfoi tuuately,, th:s steani'T has tinloadcd rather slowly, and although a portion of butter was landed on Monday's last, the discharge has only just been completed. The recent advance seems to have checked business somewhat on secondary butters. which are a little more difficult to clear than they wore, but as regards finest the position is unchanged, prices being well maintained, and for uns.-ilted, a slight premium over last week's rates has been made. Altogether the market looks in a fairly healthy condition, as the bulk of the butter is gmnir straightaway into consumption, and rerv little is .being stored. We onlv hop,, tlmt 'supplies will keep up f or some time to come.
New Zealand.—There has been nn excellent demand for the s.s. Ruanehu butters, and prices are firm at Ufis 1 ' and 118_s The quality is n-orvl. and it looks as if this steamer will b<> cleared before the next arrival, which is not due until tlio 7th March. . Continental.—The market Is <,«•- ln g_to supplies being now praetiealiv at their lowest point. Banish has been advanced 2 kroner, but doubts are sed m many quarters whether f-is will be maintained. Arsrenline.—This butter has !m >l with a fairly <»ood demand.
