ENTERTAINMENTS.

THEATRE ROYAL. Of an excellent series of pictures screened at the Theatre Royal last night, one of the most interesting was a film showing the full ceremony in connection with the departure of - New Zealand's gift Dreadnought to the Empire for New Zealand waters. The picture, which is of great topical interest in Ytew of the ship's proposed visit to New Plymouth, covered a wide ranga, and depicted the inspection by the King and the departure of the warship for New Zealand. The Vitagraph Company was to the fore with a striking Eastern drama, "The Hindoo Curse," which was brimful of interest-compelling situations. The setting was magnificent, full advantage being taken of the scope afforded by th'e unparalleled splendor and mystic scenery of the East. In somewhat lighte? vein came "Bobby's Father," a cleverlyconceivcd drama, featuring that popular actor, Maurice Costcllo. "The Old Reporter" was a first-class Edison production, abounding with many interesting situations. "Bunny All at Sea" provided a continuous round of merriment, being descriptive of "John's" recent voyage to England. In "The Artist's Joke," the world-famed artist, Harry Furniss, was depicted, while the blood tingled with patriotic sentiment when "Trafalgar and To-day" was released.
