Reuter's correspondent, who was in Adrianoplc tliroughout the siege, states that the Bulgarians with thirty batteries fired unceasingly for three days. The Consuls throughout protected their subjects. The British Consul, Mr. Samson, constantly ran the gauntlet of the shells to save Englishmen and their wives a:::! children, and established hospitals.
KING NICHOLAS v. THE WORLD. London, April 3. The Duly Telegraph's Vienna correspondent states that when King Nicholas inaugurated the rebellion against Europe he hoped to win by bluff. Herr Jagow, in the Reichstag, explained that the Balkan League originally contemplated the inclusion of Turkey, but to this the Porte was averse. Germany stood steadfastly on Austria's side throughout the Albanian negotiations, at the same time striving to promote the fulfilment of Roumanians desires. There were, he said, considerable difficulties ahead in connection with the Aegean Islands. Germany was seeking a settlement that would not endanger Turkey's Asiatic possessions.
