Some months ago a number of newspaper proprietary and private peoplesubscribed for a present to the French nation in the form of aeroplanes. An ! official letter published by the National Committee, which received subscriptions and had the aeroplanes built, was published on February 13. Seventy-two aeroplanes, all fitted with the latestmilj- •' tarv requirement, were the fruits of thesubscription. The Journal presented tluee monoplanes, each of which carries |,<Vo'passengers; the Petit Parisien presented three, and most of the other • newspapers in Paris presented one or more.
