ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
UNKNOWN MAN DROWNED. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, Tuesday. A dead body was found in the harbor this morning, which had evidently been in the water a fortnight. The body is that of a man sft. lOin. in height, with a short dark beard, and so far has not , been identified. The clothing suggests that the dead man was a laborer. J KILLED ON THE RAILWAY. ] Te Kuiti, Tuesday. c The body found on the railway about 1 half a mile north of Te Kuiti last night j was identified this morning as that of I Celia McKenzie, aged eighteen, sister a of the proprietress of a well-known g boarding-house at Kelvin. The deceased. L had been run over by a goods train leaving Frankton Junction at about ten o'clock.
A GUNPOWDER EXPLOSION. Dunedin, Last Night. Thomas Mee, employed on the Catlitis river railway, was admitted to the hospital to-day, suffering from severe burns. He accidentally threw a lighted match into some powder, and was at once enveloped in flames. He is suffering severely from shock. A CYCLING FATALITY. Timaru, Last Night. Mr. P. Dickson, a clerk in the money department of the Timaru Post Office, while eycling into town to-night, collided with a motor-car driven by its owner, Mr. C. Besley, and sustained a severe scalp wound. He was taken to a private hospital in an unconscious state, and died shortly after admission. He was on the wrong side of the road, and did not turn n(T till near the cur, which turned off to avoid him at the same time, and n collision occurred. Dickson was married, but had no family.
