Guards from the Territorials and National Reserves lined the route of the procession, which included five battalions of the Guards, 6th Rifles and Black Watch, eight squadrons of cavalry, detachments I from forty regiments of infantry and from the navy and marines. The guns saluted at St. James's Park, as the procession started, and as the body was lowered into the grave. The pail-bearers included Lord Roberts, General Sir John French, FieldMarshals Lords Methucn and Grenfell and Sir Evelyn Wood, Lord Charles Beresford, Generals Sir Neville Lyttelton and Sir Archibald Hunter. There was a remarkable crowd at St. Paul's, including the Dukes of Conim\ight and Teck, representing the Royal family, and Mr. Asquith and Colonel Secly, representing the Cabinet, members of the Houses of Lords and Commons. Many diplomats and members of the Army and Navy were also present Captain Collins represented Australia. Dean Inge conducted the service which concluded with "Nearer, My God to Thee," the Dead March in "Saul,' and the bugler's "Last Post."
