4 LOXDOX MARKET REPORTS/ ) Messrs, E. .firifiiths and Co. are in re- ■■ ceipt -of tire following market report from their London principals, Messrs ; aiills ; and Sparro.w.adated London, Feb- , rua.ry/21, 1013:-"-i —.' ■■:■ \ : have-had a most .welepme ' change in the weather during the week. Cold ■ north-east ■ wind* have been generally experienced, after an-exceedingly '•■ long-period of:-rainy, moist conditions'. . This 1 change. . generally speaking, las "giveni more life to the provision trade .as a whole. The market for butter is ftrm. .r There is an Excellent 'demand :for: choice - grades, " which is having : tlie, efTcct of keeping supplies clearing .}.as they arrive,-, and'\ve should not; no .til sc-e st'stil! fi rther improvement nokt week. '■ 'Australian:— * With the release of a consideriblo quantity of; delayed butter ■which : was held up> by • fog last week, there was rather a heavv supply, on the ma rkefc on .Monda v, -a nd prices looked i like weakening. Tn some eases, sajted descriptions .W'cre;',sqld at Is to 2s below the, highest rates of last week, but the sudderL dmpiu f .,temper.a.ti.ire and an.excellent demand speedily enabled the marj ketto-'pull itself itself' together, and-we are able to report at the close of the ■ ,week .that nnv .changes are of an upward description as compared with our report of the. 14th. Choice unsalted j butter just now js making a. considerable \ premium over.salted, whilst the quantity (if really choice salted butter is somewhat limited: secondary qualities have a.lsn met'with-a better demand. New Z.'ahml: The last "arrival has cleared up well, and agents are demanding 2s more for the next arrival per s.s. UuiiMcl'.u.'di'e on (he 22nd ins!:. Siberian: Arrivals just, now are on a vcrv sin.ill basis, and with fiermany buying, we do not-expect any increase in .supplies for some time. . Argentine;, Arrivals .are keeping up, and the deunml coiiLinncs good. Cheese. —There .has, been an improvement in price this week, agents having demanded "Is more money. This has somewhat restricted buying, but general market' conditions are good, and we think the improved price will be maintained. We hear of considerable complaint this season through Xew Zealand cheese containing more moisture, and the texture ilaky .and chippy, so that trouble is experienced hi cutting the cheese for sale in retail shops. Our colonial friends will lie well advised not to overdo the moi-ture business. We only wish to point out that fancy Canadian factories to-day -are making as high as fios. whilst there is practically no Xew Zealand cheese selling at over fils. This is a considerable gap, which is not flattering to the Xew Zealand product, and we hope that, in the. effort to get an extra one per cent, of moisture the good name of Xew Zealand cheese will not be saeri- . ficed. |S i
