NEWTON KING'S WEEKLY REPORT. On Thursday, 20th inst., I held a clearing sale on account of Messrs Fisher Bros., Urenui. There was a. large attendance of buyers, and good competition was obtained for all lines. Prices: P.M. ewes 10s 9d, 2-tooth ewes 13s 7d, 4-tooth ewes. 13s 3d, 6-tooth ewes 13s Id, 2-tooth wethers 12s lOd, 4, 6 and f.m. wethers 13s 3d, ewe lambs 7s Id, wether lambs 7s, cull lambs 4s 2d, cull ewes 4s 3d, three-quarter draught mares £2B to £35, hack £8 ss, buggy mares £ll to £l4 10s, gig £8 ss, spring trap £8 10s, drav £0 10s, wool dray £S 10s, buggy £l6, roller £l3, drill £lO 10s, wool press £lO 10s. The herd had been exceptionally well cared for and sold under best competition at prices from £l7 5s for the top-priced cow to £0 15s for three-quarter or aged cows, averaging £lO 10s for the Hue. Choice weaner Jersey heifers £3 Is to £4, weaner steers £1 10s, goats 10s, drill £2O 10s, buggy £l7, gig £ll 10s, mares and foals £l2 to £l7 10s. sows and litters £3 12s Cd to £4 10s, bull £7 15s. stack of hay £lO. At Urenui on Wednesday, 20th, both cattle and sheep came forward in excess of advertised numbers. The. sheep, on account of Mr. D. S. MeKellar's estate, were all cleared. A good line of fullmouthed ewes realised Us od, culls 3s to Os 7d, 2 to fi-tooth wethers 14s'7d. rams 7s to 13s od. Competition for other sheep wns very quiet. Good incalf heifers and weaners were in improved demand. MATTHEWS. BENNETT & CO.'S REPORT. Matthews, Bennett and Co. report that owing to the Easter holidays there was only a small muster of stock. Weaners (small) 21s Gd to 35s for medium quality, good colored weaners (still in demand) up to 60s, 20months heifers in calf S2s Cd to 100s for a very nice line, store cows oils to 78s Gel, fonv.n-d cows !)0.3 to 110s for good heavv stuff, bulls G3s to 100s, 21/g-year-old steers DCs Od, 3-year-old steers 120s. During the past fortnight we havedisposed of a considerable quantity of stock privately at the follows prices:—Lambs from 8s up to 0s Od for good quality, wethers 13s Sd to 14s Od,'weaners 25s to 455, on'j very nice line making 555, 2-tooth ewes (really good quality) 10s, other lines of ewes 12s Od to 15s'Od for' good stuff. 'We also sold a considerable number of rams at from £2 5s to £3 15s.

Our Mr. Scoble has conducted several experiments with the explosive "Eruptite" during the past fortnight. At a demonstration given on Mr. A. X. Hayloek'a farm on the Upper Hastings road on the 14th inst. there were a large number of farmers present, and they were thoroughly satisfied with the results achieved. Another demonstration was also given at Mr. Gatenby's farm on the Toko road on the 26th inst., and the spectators were again highly pleased with the shifting powers of the explosive, and we were consequently enabled to book several large orders for "Eruptite."—Advt. Fat lambs—Best lambs made 17s to' 19s sd, lighter 14s 5d to 16a 9d, as against 17s 6d to 21s 9d and 14s 2d to 17s respectively at the previous sale. Fat sheep—Wethers (prime) 19s to 22s 2d, lighter 16s lid to 18s 9d, prime ewes 16s to 20s, medium 13s Od to 15s Od, aged and light 10s lOd to 13s. Store sheep—For all classes there was keen demand, the previous week's prices being fully maintained, and a good clearance was made at full rates. Fat cattle—The current price for beef was 22s Od to 30s per 1001b (according to class). Steers realised £7 7s Od to > £ll, extra to £l4 15s, heifers £6 to I £lO 7s Od, cows £5 15s to £9 ss. I Vealers—Fat calves were in usual supI ply, all grades being penned, and prices 1 ranged from 8s to £3 12s. Store cattle—Yearlings £1 7s, • 15 to 18-months sorts £2 5s to £3, 2-year ' steers £5 (passed), 3-vear steers £5 19s Od to £G, 3-year heifers £4 8s to £4 19s, cows £2 5s to £4 10s, a line of 16 selling at the latter price. Dairy cows—An average number were penned, some being of very good class, and met with, keen demand. Prices ranged from £4 to £lO for ordinary ' sorts, extra good making to £l3 12s 6d. Pigs—Choppers realised 63s to 80s, heavy baconers 00s to 755, lighter sorts 55s to 65s (equal to Od per lb). Heavy porkers brought 46s to 525, lighter pigs 40s to 45s (equivalent to 6y 2 d to 7d per lb. Stores were also in small supply, but the enquiry was not keen. Large stores realised 32s to 38s Gd and smaller sorts 22s to 30s. Weaners made 13s 6d to IRs.
