FORESHORE IMPROVEMENT.
The following additional subscriptions have been received by the Foreshore Improvement Society:—Mr. E. Bary ss, Mrs. Lepine ss. Mrs. Riddock ss, D.B. ss, Mrs. F. Hodson 3s, Miss Johnson 4s, Mrs. G. Blanchard 4s. The committee desires to thank the .following for donations:—Messrs Steffenson (drinks), Leaiand (bread), Frost (butter), Bayly (milk), J. F. Hooker and G. Hooker (carting), W. J. Russell and H. J. Russell (carts), H. Hasell (tents and marquee). The cake-guessing competition resulted in Mrs. C. 'Grant and Mr. L. Jackson dividing the prize. The correct weight was 71b 130z., and the weight guessed by the winners was 81b. The Tony weight-guessing' was won by Mr. G. Hooker, who guessed 3cwt, lqr. 101b, the correct weight being 3cwt lqr. 91b. Mr. Adlam guessed 4401bs as the weight of the pumpkin, which weighed 400ib.
