TARANAKI BAKERS.

FORMATION OF UNION. The Taranaki journeymen bakers and pastrycooks met in conference yesterday at the Hown ITall, when it was unanimously decided to form a Bakers' and Pastrycooks' Union, to cover the Taranaki district. Officers were elected, and decisive action will shortly be taken to Hiring the bakers and pastrycooks under the operation of an award. The Dominion or uniform award in force will be sought for by the Taranaki Bakers' Union. Mr. 0. J. Veale, secretary of the Auckland Bakers' Union, was responsible for the initial meetings, and at the meeting yesterday Mr. Veale was accorded ' a hearty vote of thanks for his zealous services on he'nalf of the Taranaki operative bakers.
