LABOR TROUBLES.
FRESII TROUBLE WITH SYDNEY <JAS EMPLOYEES. By Cable—Press Association--Copyright. Sydney, March 26. Trouble is again hinted at in connection with the gas employees. The council of the Gas Employees' Union to-night will consider what the secretary designates a serious dispute with the Australian Gaslight Company over the agreement with the union. TRADE UNION CONGRESS. LABOR COUNCIL VERSUS FEDERATION. Sydney, March 26.
The New South Wales Trade Union Congress adopted a clause enacting that in the event of an affiliated union or council ordering a strike without affording the proposed Labor Federation ample opportunity to investigate the matter, the Federation shall reserve the right to withhold support or suspend or expel the offending union or council. The congress decided that the Labor Federation shall exercise supreme authority in the trade union movement in preference to the Sydney Labor Council. While the clauses of the draft constitution were being discussed, Peier Bowling .proposed an amendment that the Federation should represent only industrial labor. A member of the congress told Bowling he could cut no ice in Sydney. Another remarked it was plain he wished to replace the Labor Party by some other body. The amendment was rejected. NEW SOUTH WALES MINERS. Received 27. la.m. London, March 20. Th« Bulli district and Flelensburg mines' meetings passed resolutions in favor of continuing the strike.
