AUSTRALIA'S NAVY.
ARRIVAL OF BATTLESHIP MELBOURNE. A GREAT DEMONSTRATION. By Cable—Press Association —Copyright. Received 20, 10 p.m. Melbourne, March 2G. The arrival oi the battleship Melbourne was made the occasion of a great demonstration. The cruiser Encounter and three destroyers met the vessel seven miles outside the heads, and conveyed her into the bay, where two steamers carrying Ministerial parties and a number of other vessels laden with the public met her and joined the procession. Crowds gathered. All the ships participated. The battleship met with an enthusiastic welcome, the shipping and the city being deeoratcd. Later in the day Lord Deuman, Oover-fior-General, went aboard the 11.M.5. Encounter and officially received and welcomed the Melbourne's captain. Subsequently lie made an official call aboard the Melbourne.
