At the annual meeting of the New Zealand Poultry Association, Mr. Morrett, secretary, in the annual report said that the industry had assumed big proportions. Prices of eggs and poultry 1 were fifty per cent .better than ten years ago. The improvement in laying 1 .birds had been phenomenal. A trial • shipment of eggs to Vancouver did not show a great profit but the results demonstrated the possibility of' workinglip an extensive export trade. ASSOCIATION OF NURSERYMEN. Auckland, Tuesday. The New Zealand Association of Nurserymen met this morning. Mr. A. MacDonald (president), in liis opening address. said that the leading export (inns in Victoria had signed a guarantee not to sell in the Dominion below New Zealand standard rates. The Agricultural Department, after exhaustive inspection, had reported that it had been unable to find any trace of crowngale in any New Zealand-grown apples. The membership of the Association had been steadiiy increasing, seven South Island and live North Island nurserymen joining during the year. The Nurserymen's Conference passed a resolution that should any New Zea-land-grown trees or those, more than twelve months in the Dominion be destroyed by order of the Agricultural Department, the Government should pay half the value of such nursery stock, as in the case of diseased animals.
