TUKAI'A FOOTIIALL CLUB. AXXUAL MEETING. The annual meeting ol the Tukapa Football Club was held at the Town Hall last night. About .thirty members were present. In the absence of the President (Mr. T. 0. Fookes) Mr. A. R. Standish was voted to the chair.
In presenting the nineteenth annual report the eoinmittee stated that thp divided 1m!/-holiday and the consequent formation of the' Saturday Clubs had done in lie 11 to weaken Thursday foothill. This season, with the probable advent of tlie same half-holiday for all thu towns in North Taranaki, should see a larger uaaiiwr and stronger teams in the competition and football generallyshould receive a great impetus thereby. ■ The club would 'then lie able to enter ' a third grade team, which it has unfortunaluy baen unable to do for some years now. It was hoped that members would train hard throughout the ensuing season, and the advisability i;f obtaining n suitable training shed'for at least some evenings during the week was suggested. Trophies for last year luy} been alloted as follows: Dr. Fookes' for most improved senior player, G. Loveridge; Mr. A. J. Stansell's, for most improved junior player, N. Steele; Mr. S. Speight's, for best senior forward, E. Ward; while Mr. W. Drinkwater receives a trophy for his work with the juniors. The credit balance had increased front £lO 3s to £25 ss. Stohr, The election of a .a Junior Selection Committee yas held over pending the first practice, as there is a probability of, the Saturday halfholiday, if carried, altering the personnel of the juniors considerably. Messrs. Jas. McLeod and H. J. My-. Bott were appointed delegates to the Taranaki Rugby Union. The opening day was fixed for the, 1 first, Thursday in April. The question of the number of teams to be entered was held over, pending the decision re the Saturday half-holi-day.
A discission took place over the* holding of a)i annual social. It was pointed out that the juniors were holding a series of euchre parties with ft view to, raising funds for a trip. It was filially resolved that a social he held in conjunction with the juniors. The question of a gvmnasium was, brought lip by Mr. O'CJrady, who point-. ,Ed out that'outdoor training was not .the success that it should lie. Tie proposed that it be a recommendation -to the committee to trv and arrange with Jhe Agricultural Soj-ictv for the use of ,one of the sheds at the rear of the Winter Show building. This was ear* ried.
A donor, who wishes to he arionvmous, promised cold m"dals to the best* allround nlavr in the seniors and iuniors. Votes of thanks were accorded the ladies, the nres<. the Referees Association. a ll '1 all who had assisted th" club. The Secretary was voted an honorarium of £3 "s as a flight appreciation of his services.
