When Cadoniu's rider, J. S. Mac Donald, weighed in after the Cup he collapsed. Cadonia was bumped near the six-furlong post and went down on his nose. His rider ripped him up with both hands, his efforts re-opening au old wound. Mac Donald said: "I don't know how I won. He finished on his own. 1 rode him at the finish with the long rein." Among the visitors to Kandv.ick yesterday was Sir Edgar Vincent, who has had a lengthy association with racing in England, lie went to the six-furlong post to witness a start and expressed appreciation of the manner in which the sport was conducted. He was keenly interested in the working of the starting gate and stated that had it not been for the pertinacity with which Australians stuck to the machine, starting by the barrier would be a thing of the past in England before now.
