A large number .were allowed to visit the town on the strict understanding that they would not enter the hotels. Some disobeyed this order, took possession of the liars, smashed windows and furniture, and destroyed liquor. Officers interfering were abused and were assaulted. Pickets gathered in the offenders, and placed them in the guard-rooms. They will do a disgrace parade to-day.
