THE HOLIDAYS.
Local residents will find no lack of variety in the Easter holiday attractions. Sport has a fairly large "cut in." To-morrow will see bowling matches between the Wanganui and New Plymouth Clubs, on the town green, and at Inglewood between the Pitzroy and local clubs. The North Island draughts championship and handicap, for which 14 entries have already been received, will _ also be commenced, while in the evening there will be special Easter programmes at both the Theatre Royal and the Empire Theatre. An entire change of programme will be shown at both houses, and the series will include several star films, particulars of which are advertised.
Saturday will see the opening of the Taranaki Golf Tournament, and given fine weather many persons should visit the new links at Waiwakaiho. In the morning a rifle shooting match will take place on the Rewa Rewa range between the New Plymouth and Patesi Clubs, while bowlers will find diversion in the matches between Wanganui and West End, and St. Johns (Wanganui) at New Plymouth, respectively. In the.afternoon there will be more bowling matches. Wanganui will meet Fitzroy, while St. Johns will try conclusions with West End. At night there will be fresh holiday attractions at both the Theatre Royal and the Empire Theatre. Easter Monday offers a perfect galaxy of attractions in and around New Plymouth. Those that will app»al most to country people possibly will be the East End Rathing Reserve' Picnic and Sporta and the Foreshore Improvement Soc-' iety's opening carnival at the Band Ro'-i tunda. Roth wi.'l bo all-dav affairs aryi offer much in tho form of recreation and amusement. The golf tournament on the links at Waiwakaiho will be continued, and a commencement will be made with the two (lavs' representative match. North v. South Taranaki. In the morning a bowling; match will eventuate between the New Plymouth cham-. pion rinks'and the rest of the Club, and in the afternoon a team of howlers from the New Plymouth Club will pay a visit to the Fitzroy green. Waitara will also fulfil their banner fixture against West, End. For those who wish to go fur- r ther afield there will be the Stratford Gymkhana and Mimi Pukearnhe Sports. In the evening there will be fiother change of programme at the Theatre Royal. Pictures will also be shown at the "Empire Theatre.
