A DANGEROUS PRACTICE.
- • To" the Editor. Sir—Can you tell me whether the driver of the horough water-cart lias had instructions not to turn the water oil' till the cart is empty, whether horses arc frightened or not? Why J ask is because on Tuesday afternoon there was nearly a very serious accident in Egmont street. There was a lady with two little children sitting in a gig outside Mr. W. Bewley's office, when the man tried to drive the water-cart up between the cabs,.and the gig without stopping the water. But for the prompt action of Messrs E. Gilmour and R. lloneyfield there would have been a serious if not fatal accident. Now, Sir. I think it is as little as a man can do to turn the water off, especially when he sees women and children in danger. Hoping this will meet the eye of the water-cart driver, and thanking you for publishing same.—l am, etc., A RATEPAYER.
