THE AMERICAN TARIFF.

THE DUTY OX WOOL. By Cable—Press Association— Copyright. Received in. 10.20 p.m. Washington, March 10. _ The Democratic majority of the House m Committee on Ways and Means, voted to make raw wool dutiable at 15 per cent, ad valorem, with substantial reductions on the present rates for woollen manufactures, on the line of the previous Wool Bill. The committee placed meat on the free list, leaving cattle dutiable. The Democrats in both Houses a creed to plan a downward revision of the tariffs. Harmony prevails in the Senate and in the Lower House, the Senate agreeing, to accept greater reductions than it approved of last session. The Wool Bill is likely to be hotly opposed by the Republicans.
