THEATRE ROYAL PICTURES.

The new programme to-night includes no less than four pictures by "the popular Vitagraph Company. John Bunny and Florence Turner appear in a cor.icdv scream. "The Two Cinders," and all the chief directors of the Vitagraph Company appear in another genuine novelty comedy entitled "A Vitagraph Romance." The remaining Vitagraph numbers are dramatic studies, "Written in the Sand" and "The Road'of Yesterday.' A star picture of great interest is the Edison industrial film, "Paper Manufacture in Maine," showing work in t'm mighty forests, the logs sent eighty miles down the river to the mills,"anil i the full process of converting into paper. There are a number of other interesting pictures, all being first-class subjects.

EMPIRE PICTURE PALACE . The fine selection of pictures shown at the Empire on Saturday afternoon and night will be shown again for the 'last occasion to-night. To-morrow night there will be a complete change of programme comprising a selection of the world's finest picture releases. EAST END CARNIVAL. The East End Bathing Reserves Committee held a meeting last night to make final arrangements for the Carnival to be held at the East End Reserve on Easter Monday.. Messrs. Flanagan, Milne, Buttimore and De Lisle were appointed a committee to control the tug-of-war competition. Already 10 entries have been received for this'competition, and it is expected that more will enter before the nominations close on Thursday. The teams entered comprise:— Firemen, Borough, Maoris (two each), East End. Soccer, Express Company, VYaitara, Butchers, Wharf Labourer's, Harbor Board, Red Post. Smart Road and Stratford. An invitation has been issued to the delegates attending the I annual Conference of Good Templars, which is being held in New Plymouth at' Easter. A meeting of ladies will be held in the marquee at 3 p.m. to-day, to make arrangements re afternoon tea.
