THE ANTARCTIC.
A FINE SLEDGING RECORD. 1 ■ By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Sydney, March 17. I Professor David states that from the | scientific points of view ■ the results of | Dr. Mawsons' brilliant achievements cx- | ceeded his most sanguine expectations. J He adds that in liis opinion, and that I of Commander Evans, as well as of Mr. Priestly, Captain Davis did absolutely | the right tiling when he decided to hasten to the rescue of Wild. Nobody can attach the least blame to him for his second decision to proceed straight from Wild's base to Australia. No doubt Dr. Mawson would he among the first to commend Captain Davis' action. . Commenting on the results, Professor David says that probably no Polar expedition had a finer sledging record for the time than Mawson's main party and Wild's party. The sledging figures show that the main base party traversed 2SIO miles, and Wild's party Kilo—a total of 4425 miles.
