It is stated that oneW il-known and well-tried rider lias annou'.iied hi- intention of wagering Clu that the Association cannot pro-j d~iee a bor-e to throw hie.i. Of course | the Association are after him. and have already procured two well-known horses which can at all times buck rider and saddle off without breaking the girth. There should be good fun watching this ) contest, from a safe distance, say from one of the grandstands, where the charge is only one shilling for gentlemen and sixpence'for children and ladies. A number of tradesmen are hard at work .preparing' fancy posters for the poster race. The writer ha- seen the framework of some of these creations, ami thev are j weird in the extreme. A team of heavy ( weights, nicked from the. general com-j mittee of the Association, have challenged the winning team i;i the tng-of-war event, and are anxious to show Hie j military men how to pull or tug. The. trotting races are filling well, and, given the fine day which has been ordered, the Gymkhana' should be worth attending. Entries close positively on Tuesday. March' 18. ' .
