, AN ANTARCTIC DISTURBANCE. HUGH DAMAGE DONE. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Sydney, March 14. A double-headed Antarctic disturbance, which covered the whole of South and Eastern Australia yesterday, provided one of the most energetic experiences undergone for some years. Two yachts went ashore in the harbor, and the ketch Brothers had a portion of her sails carried away of! the North Head. A tug rescued her. Several buildings were unroofed. The maximum velocity of the wind was sixty miles per hour. At Newcastle the storm was one of the severest experienced for some time, with heavy squalls of rain and hail. At Lambton the fire station was ■wrecked, and several roofs were torn off. The velocity of the wind reached 75 miles per hour. Adelaide. March 14. A violent westerly gale sent two yaelits ashore, which were smashed ,up. The schooner Albatross also sank during the gale. The French vessel General Desonis, wheat-laden, dragged her anchors and grounded.
