DISTRICT NEWS.
EAHOTU. The Wesleyan Church harvest festival whs held on Wednesday evening last, but did not draw the usual crowd. People seem to have taken Mr. Massey's advice to go slow, and the first thing thev no slow on is the Church funds. The (inn Club held their fortnightly shoot on Mr. A. Phillips' ground on Saturday. Messrs J. Colmcr. F. Baker and \V. (ireen tied for first place in No. 1 sweepstake, and in the shoot-off Mr. Colmer proved the winner. No. ± sweepMake was won by Mr. A. Phillips, Mr. Julian being a very close second. The shooting was a great improvement on previous matches, and with a little more practice some of our local shots will be putting up records. Mrs. Archie Phillips invited shooters into afternoon tea at her house, her kindness being very much appreciated. This has been an excellent season for maize, several local farmers having crops ranging from 7ft to Oft high. 1 heard of one" man who has ten acres, and he says it is all over 13ft in height. I should 'think this will be a record for the rttast. (1 know some will think this rather an amazing yarn'l.
