THE GAS STRIKE.
LEGISLATION' UNNECESSARY. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Received 11, 0.5 p.m. Sydney. March 11. A development which may obviate the necessity for a special session of Parliament to deal with the gas position has occurred. The companies have written to the Premier stating that the men having resinned work, the companies do not object to the cancelling of that part of the agreement relating to wages, so that the men may come before the Wages Board without further delay and have the matter settled bv the Court or the Wages Board. The secretary of the Gasmen's I'uion. to whom the companies' decision was submitted for consideration, states that this arrangement will suit the union, which is in favor of acting to expedite matters.
