The TCeuste Xachrichten states that the German banks are faced with a critical gold-famine,-primarily the result of the heavy withdrawal of foreign loan ; moneys last year. Unless this is remedied industry will be subjected to a grave crisis in the summer.

Manv fights have occurred between the "Monarchists and Republicans over the municipal elections in the Basque provinces. A Magistrate and a number of others were injured. Several of the Civil Guards fired on the crowd at Fedrodialdar, killing one and injuring two dangerously.
