They were both brought before Mr. D. Sole, J.P., yesterday morning. Sergeant McXeely prosecuted, and .Mr. S. McAlister represented both aroused. The sergeant, in asking for a remand, said that there had been insufficient time to fully prepare the ease for the police. TTe asked for a remand till Friday, so that the ease ecu Id come before tie Stipendiary Magistrate.' If there were no time to take evidence then, a further'remand would be asked lor. Mr. Maealister applied for bail, and ! said that in' the circumstances the amount fixed need not be excessive. The charge had given the affair a serious aspect, but they had to consider the whole circumstances. TTe did not admit, of course, that the accused were on the premises, aitd until' that was proved they must he deemed iiinocent. Mr. Maealister said he understood that the v pplice admitted that nothing Was stolen. : Sergeant, 'McXecly: I .don't admit any such' thing. , Bail was fixed, each accused in £3O, j and another surety of .£SO (or two of I •£23). the'accused'to report themselves to the police daily.
