AUCKLAND MATCHES. By Telegraph.—Per Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. - Another round of the cricket matches commenced yesterday in fine weather and on a fair wicket. His Excellency the Governor and the Countess of Liverpool visited Victoria Park, where the Ponsonby— Grafton match was played. 'Grafton batted first, and made 71, Dodly 24 and McCormick 10, being the only ones to reach double figures. N. Sneddon took 7 wickets for 44 runs, and Kavanagh 3 for 13. Ponson'bv put on 133 for the loss of 5 wickets. N. Snedden scored ,11, C. Snedden 39, Woods 18. Pratt took 3 wickets for 32 runs. North Shore made 260 against Parnell, the principal scorers being W. Bush 31, G. Daere 91, Sale 21, J. Howie (not out) 0G and L. Daere 21. Stephens took 6 wickets for 34. Eden made 271 against University, the chief scorers being Taylor 73, Gordon 74, Smeaton 20 and Hay 20. Taylor took 2 for 77, Fenwick 2 for 54, Player 2 for 57 and Graham 2 for 30.
