BIGAMY CHARGE.
SOME UNUSUAL FEATURES. / By Telegraph.—Per Press Association.. Palmerston North, Saturday. In the Police Court this morning,. Charles Harvey, a young man, pleaded guilty to a charge of bigamy and' wascommitted to the Supreme Court for sentence. The case presented rather unusual features. According- to the evidence, accused married on December 27 last, a young woman named Riley at New Plymouth. They evidently did not. go on. a honeymoon, for the next .thing was that Harvey turned up at Fraiikton and eloped witli the daughter of a, resident. Tie brought her to Palmerston. The father followed them up: and: found them here. The girl ' wasi still in her teens, and a certain amount of pressure being brought tobear on the accused, lie went to the registrar's oll'ice with the girl and' went through a form of marriage. Rumors got about, and when the accused was interrogated he made a clean breast., The girl in her evidence said she was Seventeen, hut her age. on the marriage certificate was shown as sixteen.
