THE FIRE EXTINGUISHED. By Cable —Press Association—Copyright. Eio de Janeiro, March 0. The fire on the Turakina has been ■extinguished. EXTENSIVE DAMAGE. Received 7, 9.45 p.m. Sydney, March 7. The underwriters have received a cable that the lire on the Turakina has been extinguished by flooding No. 3 hold. The damage to the engine-room is believed to be extensive. LYTTELTON CARGO. By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurclt, Thursday. The Turakina took the following cargo from Lyttelton:— Wool 0070 bales, cheese 551 cases, butter 3(138 boxes, hides 19 sacks, pelts 4 sacks, skins !)3 bales, sundries 52 packages. The New Zealand Shipping Company, which owns the vessel, has been informed that the fire is in No. 3 hold. This has two decks, one with a space of 00.030 cubic feet, and the other with 35,500 cubic feet. The messages received by the company state that the hold which contained the butter has been destroyed, that the vessel has been beached, and that all the passengers are ashore. It is supposed that the reference in the Press Association message to the fire reaching the insulators deals with the refrigerating room, which lies partly on fop of the hold in which the fire broke out. THE WELLINGTON CARGO. Wellington, Thursday. The Turakina's cargo from Wellington includes the following for London: —4021 bales of wool, 227 casks of tallow, 119 casks of pelts, 15 casks of casings, 264 quarters of beef, 0320 carcases of mutton, 8338 carcases of lamb, 12 carcases of tegs. 19.815 boxes of butter. 13,384 eases of cheese. 985 cases of shell, 21 packages of rubber, 110 sacks of seed, 833 tins of milk, 958 bales of hemp, 48 bales of tow. 55 packages of general. The vessel also took 43 sheep and 00 packages of general goods for Monte Video.
