THE TRANSPORT STRIKE. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Perth, March .7. ' The transport strike is causing serious inconvenience. There have been several street disturbances; one man has been arrested and another taken to hospital. The men demand a compulsory conference, and that all the strikers shall be reinstated. The masters declined the proposal. The Labor Federation advised the men to resume work. The Cabinet has resolved to put into action the provisions of the Arbitration Act against the strikers. WELSH COLLIERS' DISPUTE. London, March 6. The Rhomney and Rhonda colliers are tendering a month's notice in Aprri to strike against the employment of nonunionists. The strike, if it takes place, will involve 53,000 men. THE RAILAVAY STRIKE. Received 7, 10.50 p.m. London, March 7. The Midland Railway directors will consider Richardson's ease to-day. All newspapers urge a re-ballot. TELEGRAPH MESSENGERS' STRIKE. Received 7, 9.45 p.m. Sydney, March 7. The Telegraph messengers threaten to cease work on Monday unless their wages ars raised and a half-holiday is granted weekly, the half day for drill not being considered satisfactory. They have also formed a union. AN AGREEMENT TURNED DOWN. By Telegraph.—Per Press Association. ' Dunediu, Last Night. At the meeting of the Dunedin Trawlers' Union last night, the secretary (S. Boreham) was directed to write to the Clerk of Awards stating that he had been instructed not to affix the seal of the union to the agreement arrived at before the Conciliation Commission (Mr. J. R. Triggs) and the assessors last week. The letter states that the recommendations are altogether objectionable, and consequently are not acceptable.
