A number of matters of interest to eonstal shipping won l placed before the Minister for Marine bv Captain Stentiford (secretary of the Auckland Coastal Masters' Association) liiis morning. Captain Stontiford pointed out that of JSO members in the association about forty were master-owners of small vessels. Recently, owing to harassing regulations, six of the best scows of the local fleet had been sold in Australia, while several others had been relegated to the position of hulks. The shallow draught scow had been the means of opening up all of the small ports with bar harbors from East Cape to North Cape. yet. instead of fostering such a fleet the Government had saddled the vessels, with the same regulations as applied '1 to steamers. A number of complaints were explained in detail. ! Mr. Fisher, in reply, stated that Ithe matters placed before him would be <'uly considered with those relating to coastal shipping, which were brought under bis notice last week. I
