Mr. George Ritchie (Christchurch), is on a visit to New Plymouth. Mr. .1. H. Quilliam is at present indisposed, and is confined to his bed. Police Inspector Wilson, officer in charge of this) district, arrived in New Plymouth Ijy last evening's mail train. A Melbourne ealilegr.un states that it is rumoured that Mr. Hughes has been offered the chairmanship of the InterState Commission, and will probably accept it. This will mean Ms retirement from politics.
