The telephone is now installed in the creamery in charge of the manager, Mr. H. C. Marr. It is a decided acquisition to our district. The annual school picnic is to he held on Thursday. The children anticipate a good time. The distribution of prizes will take place in the evening . There has been a considerable amount of sickness about the district lately. Measles have had a good innings this year, catching both young and old folk. The Cape Egmont Horticultural Show takes place on Wednesday, and if the weather keeps fine, there should be a very good show of flowers, as there has not been any rough weather lately to knock them about. Mr. K. Julian, who has been confined to his bed for some time, is now able to get up and move about again. Mr. Frank Pierson, who has been in the Hospital, returned home last week. Mr. Alf. Deacon, who had the misfortune to get his leg broken the other week and was taken to the hospital, is progressing slowly. The leg not being a clean break, it will have to be plated. The milk supply at the local cheese factory is decreasing very fast now, and will continue to do so, but the tests will keep the cheques up a little. The tests,' which run from 3.7 to 4.4, with an average of 4.1, are very good for this factory. There are several 4.4 tests, and only five suppliers have under 4.0. One thing which I think is a credit to the factory managers which we have had since we started cheesemaking is that they get high grades for the cheese without sending any milk home because it is not up to the standard quality. Our last .manager, who was with us for three years, never returned one can of milk, and he always had top grades for his cheese, while the present manager has been grading 91 for the last few months, without returning, any milk. At other factories, however, along the coast a big quantity of night's milk is sent home nearly every morning because it is not up to the standard quality. Even then their grades are "nothing special," and besides it must be a considerable loss to the farmers to have their milk returned. T regret to mention that Mr. Archie Thompson, who went under an operation recently for appendicitis, has, I understand, to go back to the Hospital and have another operation. The farmers are now busy ploughing in readiness for grass-sowing, for the early autumn sowing does far better than the spring sowing, and the fern does not grow. The turnip crops are looking very nice this year, and some of the best turnips on the coast are to be seen in this district. Have you even seen a fresher, daintier and more complete Btock of ladies' wear than this? At present you can refresh your summer toilette for very little. Just a new blouse, new glove 3, girdle, or some little thing like that, after the holiday rush. Come next timt you're in town. DRAPER, INGLEWOOD henry brown km m. MORLEY STREET.
