SUDDEN DEATH. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Monday. James Caw, aged 53, employed in the kitchen of a local hotel, dropped dead while working. TOLL OF THE MOTOR-CAR. Auckland, Monday. An old man named Frank McGann, living by himself in a small hut on the slopes of Mount Eden, was knocked down by a taxi-cab on Saturday night in the Khyber Pass road. The driver did not see deceased until he suddenly loomed up in front of the cab and was ; struck by the vehicle. The driver ; iwerved the car smartly to the right in \ an endeavor to avoid, .the, man, but failed, the car catching him up; and carrying him across the roadway on the ' front of the motor. As it stopped, McGann fell on the roadway, dead. . He , leaves a grown-up family, who are all i married. SHOOTING FATALITY. • Christchurch, Last Night. The police received word from, Leeston ; that a farmer of Dunsandel, named John Champion Gilbert, was accidentally shot whilst rabbit-shooting yesterday, dyingas the result of his injuries, early/this' ; morning. \
