Ham. an employee of the gas works, wit], his wife and child a»ed four years, lost their ]i m . The tl.ioo fith a friend. Richard Potter, were fishing from a twelve foot boat near Pinnacle Rock. They decided to move to iresli fishing ground, and while Potter was hauling up the anchor, the boat capsized. Potter and Ham got Mrs. Ham and the child on to the upturned craft, hut after a few minutes they slipped off and were not seen again alive. Ham tried to make for the rocks, but sank. Potter managed to keep afloat, until picked up by a boat from- the steamer jPiiteeiia. which was passing. He was put ashore in an unconscious condition, and after half an hour's strenuous exertion was brought round by Dr. Herbert. The bodies of Mrs. Ham awl child have been recovered, but there is no siirn of Ham's.
