Professor David has received a cablegram from Commander Evans, asking him to convey his deepest sympathy with the Australian Antarctic expedition in the los- of Lieutenant Xinnis and Dr. Mertz. No details have yet been received about how the two members of the party lost their lives. The Uobart wirele-s station was in touch with Dr. Mawson yesterday. through the Macqnarie station. Dr. Mawson's station acknowledged the messages, and seemed to be working exceedingly well, though the time of working was still somewhat limitc'd.
